The congress abstract tool opens on 19th October 2020 and closes on 11th November 2020.
The virtual congress will be on 25th-28th May 2021.

The pre-congress is on 25th May, and the theme is: Fundamental and applied studies in poisoning – an overview of their role for the clinical toxicologist.

The themes for the main congress, 26th-28th May are:

  • Coronovirus-19 and toxicology
  • Alcohol as a co-ingestant
  • Investigation and management of caustic ingestions
  • Toxicology 2.0: new tools for data collection, surveillance and education in poisoning
  • Drug Formulation and its importance in the poisoned patient

OECD webinar for model developers and regulators, 10 May 2021, 13:20 - 15:30 CEST

The OECD is increasingly exploring the use of alternative (non-animal) methods to aid the chemical risk assessment process. Recently, the OECD published a Guidance Document on the Characterisation, Validation And Reporting of Physiologically Based Kinetic (PBK) Models For Regulatory Purposes.

This guidance aims to increase the confidence in the use of PBK models parameterised with data derived from in vitro and in silico methods, and help address “unfamiliar” uncertainties associated with these methods.

Join the webinar to hear about the assessment framework for PBK models that was developed to evaluate the attributes and uncertainties of these models, including a dedicated discussion on sensitivity analysis. This webinar will present the scientific workflow for characterising and validating PBK models together with a template for documenting PBK models in a systematic manner and a checklist to support model evaluation.

The workshop will be held from 12 to 16 April 2021, every afternoon CET time.

The concept of AOP is a new concept for radioprotection research that has originally been proposed and developed for the assessment of the toxicity of chemical stressors with an overall goal to aid regulation based of mechanistic knowledge of biological effects. Promoted and coordinated by the OECD, the AOP concept has been considered of value to radioprotection research that can help reconcile knowledge within radiation biology and epidemiology. The workshop’s main objective is to enhance awareness of and trigger interest in the AOP concept among those involved in radioprotection research.

Chair: Rick Canady, NeutralScience
Co-Chair: Kapal Dewan, US FDA CFSAN

One of the most challenging aspects of safety assessment for nanomaterial use in consumer products is deriving an estimate of dose from use of a product that can be compared to doses delivered in a toxicology assay.  What is the status of this critical translation between use and testing today? This SOT FDA Colloquium will explore issues of problem formulation for toxicology and exposure assessment in safety assessment of nanomaterial use in consumer products.
