This TEDD workshop, a day of science, automation and visit of the liquid handling instrumentation production site, will take place at Tecan headquarters in Männedorf.

The aim of the meeting is to gather researchers and scientists interested or working in the fields of experimental pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, clinical, experimental or regulatory toxicology, or in pharmaceutical medicine. Each discipline will present the opportunities and perspectives in their fields. In this context we also aim to encourage and foster the contacts between the academic, clinical and industrial sector.  

The theme of the congress is “From Science to Human and Environmental Health Benefits.”

The course consists of a series of lectures and two hands-on exercises on skin irritation and biokinetics. It is taught by experts in three areas of in vitro toxicology, namely regulatory in vitro toxicology, screening in vitro toxicology and investigative in vitro toxicology. See programme.

The Scientific Program Committee is preparing a program that will highlight a wide diversity of aspects in the field of genetic toxicology. Speakers and key note lecturers will cover a variety of current aspects in relation to DNA damage and mutations caused by environmental agents, cell-type specificity of genotoxicity and DNA repair, alternatives to animals testing including emerging models and techniques, new approaches in human biomonitoring, hot topics in carcinogenicity, next generation risk assessment in genotoxicity and genome safety in gene therapy.

Ce cours a pour but de présenter les notions générales de toxicologie et de pharmacologie, notamment le devenir des substances dans l’organisme et leur interaction avec celui-ci. Différents mécanismes de toxicité seront présentés. Le cours est illustré par des exemples provenant des différentes disciplines de la toxicologie. L’aspect analytique sera également abordé, en particulier pour mentionner les liens avec les autres cours proposés par le ccCTA.

This course provides a broad overview on the organ systems of interest as well as standard tests to investigate drug effects on these systems. Each organ system will be introduced before detailed information on the safety pharmacology aspects is provided. Integration of Safety Pharmacology findings in an overall risk assessment will be demonstrated. Concordance data and case reports will provide the evidence how meaningful pre-clinical data are for the clinical situation. The course is part of DGPT Modular Training Programme in Toxicology ("Fachtoxikologe/in DGPT") and the registration has to be made via the German Society of Toxicology.
